At Deep Pressure Touch, we are passionate about providing specialized deep pressure training . Our mission is to promote wellbeing, meet sensory needs & promote learning through a holistic multi sensory approach.
The Deep Pressure Touch programme was devised and created by Alex Hermann, Sensory Occupational Therapist and Fiona Degler, Specialist Aromatherapist.
The programme was created to meet the sensory needs of young people with autism whilst Alex and Fiona were working together in a specialist school for communication and interaction difficulties. The programme not only meets these needs but also allows individuals to be well regulated, engage with learning, promotes communication and reduces dysregulation and behaviours.
Deep Pressure can meet the sensory needs of people with sensory processing disorders, communication and interaction difficulties, autism and a wide range of special educational needs.
The programme focuses on training professionals and staff in order for them to be able to meet the needs of the individuals they work with. The programme aims to reduce anxiety, dysregulation and behaviours and aims to promote wellbeing, learning and postive touch.
The programme is also available for parents and parent groups.
Our deep pressure programme has been carefully created to safely deliver deep pressure touch for individuals who need this to meet their sensory needs and for emotional regulation.
The programme compromises techniques from both therapeutic massage and proprioceptive movements from occupational therapy.
